It has been an exciting time for fast-rising Scottish band, Shambolics, as they release a brand new single this week following the forthcoming EP reveal and Scruff of the Neck Records signing at the back end of 2022.

An acoustic and uplifting guitar ballad, Living In Shadows addresses and raises awareness of mental health struggles. Singer, Darren Forbes, commented: “Living In Shadows is a song of optimism. It’s a song of hope for anyone going through a dark time. After seeing friends struggle badly with mental health and having gone through a few bad patches in our own lives, we wanted to write a song that was a reminder to people that darkness is only temporary and that there’s always light at the end of the tunnel.”

The new track follows What’s Going On In Your Head and Like A Breeze as the third offering from the eagerly anticipated new EP, U Serious Boi?!. Produced by Chris Marshall at 7 West Studios, Glasgow, the EP is set for release on 14 April 2023 via the highly regarded Manchester label, Scruff of the Neck, a driving force behind the breakthrough of The Reytons.

Shambolics have already played the likes of TRNSMTStockton Calling and Sound City, whilst also supporting Richard AshcroftThe View, and Embrace. Darren explains the importance of the live element for the band: “We love experimenting and being creative in the studio but that’s only half the story for us. Our shows are a collective experience, so if a song gets people going mad at a gig then we’ve got a winner.”

Their homecoming show at PJ Molloys in Fife raised over £700 for Kirkcaldy Foodbank in December, and the band are now preparing for their Glasgow date in April at The Garage. Further UK live dates are to be announced in due course.
