Introducing… Luke Royalty – I Do

2048 0

It’s time to delve a little deeper into one of our ‘Best of 2021’ selections and one of the most exciting new artists around – Luke Royalty.

Luke, who burst onto the scene with his single ‘I Could Get Used To This’ ft. Sweets last year, has released the track ‘I Do’ via Soul Kitchen Recordings. Produced by friend and long time collaborator, Bob Mackenzie, at Motor Museum studios in Liverpool, ‘I Do’ is about the pains and struggles of being stuck in a repetitive lifestyle.

Speaking of the song Luke said, “I wrote the lyrics for ‘I do’, ironically, before lockdown. My northern heritage is something that’s so important to me and I’m proud of where I come from, so I took influence from lyricists like Mike Skinner and slowthai in not being ashamed of your lifestyle, accent or slang and tried to stay as authentic as I could.

Hailing from Darlington, Luke came from a creative family of artists and musicians. He only entered into music himself in his late teens, previously preferring to spend his time playing Sunday League football and following his beloved Darlington FC.

Luke draws inspiration from the likes of Mike Skinner (The Streets), Mac Miller and Frank Ocean, and the track is the first taste of what is to come from Luke Royalty in 2021, which looks set to be a breakthrough year.
