Liverpool four-piece SPINN have confirmed details for their second album release, ‘Outside Of The Blue’ – out Friday 5th November via Modern Sky. The band have also released the title track alongside the announcement, giving fans a taste of what to expect later this year from an album embracing hope and positivity, drawing inspiration from Buddhist teachings.
Frontman, Johnny Quinn says: “Outside Of The Blue” acts as a lynchpin sonically and thematically. Written in the immediate aftermath of a panic attack, following a drive down to Birmingham to work on material for the album, the lyrics poured out in just half an hour. Instead of embodying that place of anguish it’s filled with light and an appreciation of unconditional love, it’s about how appreciative you become of the good things in life when you realise you have them, and how you’d do anything for that.”
‘Outside of the Blue’ is the much anticipated follow-up to their 2019 self-titled breakthrough debut, and was produced by Tom Longworth at the local Parr Street Studios. The new 11-track record is split into two distinct themes – the blue represents periods of anxiety and depression, whilst the colourful side promotes hope and opportunity.
With the band going through a period of change following the departure of their lead guitarist, this ambitious album was made even more challenging during a pandemic when the band couldn’t be in each other’s presence throughout the creative process.
