Manchester band ROLLA released their highly anticipated sophomore EP on Friday in the shape of “We Owe You Nothing”.
It landed to widespread acclaim as the group continue to explore their sound following the success of debut EP “Nothing Less Than Everything” in 2023.
The new release is their first on Run On Records as well as ROLLA‘s first ever vinyl release, available to buy HERE.
We caught up with the band to hear all about “We Owe You Nothing”, as well as their biggest headline show to date at Manchester’s New Century Hall on May 3rd, and plenty more.

NC: Your new EP is out now, how are you feeling about this release?
ROLLA: “We’re absolutely buzzing for this one. We Owe You Nothing feels like a proper statement from us. We’ve put everything into these tracks, and we couldn’t wait for people to hear them. The response to the singles so far has been class, so we’re just excited that the full EP is out there and to see what people make of it.”
NC: How would you describe the sonic development from previous ROLLA releases?
ROLLA: “This EP takes what we’ve always been about – big riffs, attitude, and energy – but pushes it even further. The songwriting has stepped up, and the production really captures the power of our live sound. We’ve always wanted to make music that hits hard and sticks with people, and we think this is our strongest stuff yet.”
NC: Tell us about the tracks and what they mean to the band.
ROLLA: We Owe You Nothing – “This one is us against the world and nothings gonna stop us. Really simple.”
It Ain’t Easy – “It motivates us to keep grafting, keep working hard, that’s life, it ain’t gonna be easy but it will be great if we keep pushing. It’s funny how that one wasn’t quite finished initially but with a little motivation and feedback from Serge from Kasabian it psyched us up to keep going with it and it ended up amazing.”
Beautiful Lie – “This is everything. Friends, Family, Music, we all have each other, together as one. (Big up Steve Bracknall).”
The Slide – “This is a bit of a trippy one. It’s everyone’s new favourite to play live too. its so fun to play and give it beans to.”
NC: You’re heading out on tour, including a hometown headline show at New Century Hall. How does that feel?
ROLLA: “It’s huge for us. Every gig we play is special, but a hometown headline at a venue like New Century Hall is next level. Manchester’s always backed us, and we’re buzzing to give them a proper night to remember. We’re ready to bring these songs to life in a big way.”
NC: Has it been a blessing or a curse coming through as a Manchester band?
ROLLA: “A bit of both. Manchester has such a rich history, which is amazing, but it also means there’s a lot of expectation. People compare every new band to the legends that came before, but we don’t see that as a bad thing. It just makes us want to prove ourselves even more. We take inspiration from the city, but we’re here to carve our own path.”
NC: What does the future hold for ROLLA post-EP release?
ROLLA: “More gigs, more music, and no letting up. We’ve got loads in the pipeline, and we’re already thinking about the next lot of tunes. The EP is just the beginning—we’re here to keep pushing, keep growing, and take this as far as it can go.”
“We Owe You Nothing”, the second EP from ROLLA, is out now!
