With #2 charting albums ‘Love Is Here’ and ‘Silence Is Easy’, an NME Award, and a major tour with The Rolling Stones under their belt, it’s safe to say Starsailor have had plenty to shout about since breaking through in 2000.
Their most recent album ‘Where The The Wild Things Grow’ was another success, reaching #2 on the Official Independent Albums Chart and hailed by author Jane Savidge as “an album that has no right to be as good as it is.”
Now, the Warrington band are ready to celebrate their 25th anniversary in style, incredibly still with their original line-up: James Walsh (vocals/guitar), James Stelfox (bass), Ben Byrne (drums) and Barry Westhead (keyboards).
Already announced are two special shows at Liverpool’s Tung Auditorium on February 15th, accompanied by a string ensemble led by Joe Duddell, the co-curater of the BBC Northern Soul Prom at the Royal Albert Hall.
They promise to be quite the matinee and evening shows inside a special northern venue with Duddle, who has previously breathed new life into music from the likes of Elbow, New Order, and Richard Hawley.
James Walsh commented: “We wanted to do something special to mark 25 years together as a band and knowing Joe Duddell’s fantastic reputation as a string arranger ,working with bands like Elbow and James, over the years we knew he’d be a great collaborator.
“When the prestigious Tung Hall became available it seemed like the perfect storm. Strings play a huge part in our second album ‘Silence Is Easy’ so it’s a nod to our past too. We can’t wait!”
With these shows already sold out, never fear as Starsailor have just announced a November UK headline tour.
The group will grace iconic venues such as Manchester‘s Albert Hall, Glasgow‘s Barrowlands, and the Brudenell Social Club in Leeds.
