Everyone’s favourite supergroup are back this Friday, as The Jaded Hearts Club are releasing their ‘Live at the 100 Club’ album on 26th March. Providing a much needed injection of fun in these hard times, the group return with a 60’s-infused performance packed with classic hits and a collation of well-established musicians living out their childhood dreams on stage.

The band comprises Miles Kane (The Rascals, The Last Shadow Puppets), Nic Cester (Jet), Graham Coxon (Blur), Jamie Davis, Matt Bellamy (Muse) and Sean Payne (The Zutons), and was created off the back of Davis calling on old friends to perform a Beatles tribute set at his birthday party. This was soon followed by a second gig at Stella McCartney’s fashion show in Los Angeles, where Quincy Jones, Katy Perry, James Corden and Ringo Starr were in attendance. The night was turned up a notch by the small matter of Paul McCartney joining the band on stage to perform ‘I Saw Her Standing There’ and ‘Helter Skelter’.

The Jaded Hearts Club, or ‘Dr Pepper’s Jaded Hearts Club Band’ as they are also known, developed further when Bellamy and Davis began working on an official album, producing the record at Red Room Studios in Los Angeles. Initially recording lost classics from the world of Northern Soul, Davis and Bellamy selected from a longlist of around 3000 songs before settling on the debut album, ‘You’ve Always Been Here’.

Now, The Jaded Hearts Club are ready to release their second record, ‘Live at the 100 Club’, recorded at the band’s first ever London show which sold out instantly after it was organised in memory of guitarist Jamie Davis’s late father. The release follows a limited edition vinyl pressing of the album which, along with the show itself, saw all proceeds donated to the Shooting Star Children’s Hospices.

The 10-strong tracklist opens with the supergroup’s take on Them’s 1964 hit, ‘Gloria’, which was released as the teaser single ahead of Friday’s release. Storming straight into The Sonics’ ‘Have Love, Will Travel’, the band are joined on stage by Abi Harding (The Zutons) on Saxophone, wtih Miles declaring ‘we’re gonna play you some songs from the 60’s’ before launching his distinctive vocal onto the iconic track.

A cover of The Who’s classic ‘My Generation’ precedes a mid-set run of hits from The Beatles. ‘Money’, ‘Please Please Me’, ‘Hey Bulldog’ and ‘Back in the USSR’ see The Jaded Hearts Club returning to their roots and honouring the reason they formed in the first place – John, Paul, George and Ringo!

The album steamrolls towards the finale with ‘Sunshine Of Your Love’ (Cream) and ‘Paint it Black’ (The Rolling Stones), before closing on another classic Beatles hit, ‘Helter Skelter’.

As we edge ever closer to the return of live music, this is a much welcome reminder of why we miss it so much. ‘Live at the 100 Club’ is a group of our favourite artists joining forces to perform 10 classic hits, with the excitement and energy of the musicians performing reflecting back onto us as listeners. The album will be available across all platforms on Friday 26th March!
