Busted Entertain Racegoers At Haydock Park

Haydock Park Racecourse has established itself as not only one of the North West’s leading racecourses, but also a hotspot for live music entertainment in recent years.

The likes of Nile Rodgers & Chic, Olly Murs, and Tom Jones are some of the names to grace the racecourse’s stage for Jockey Club Live shows recently.

On Saturday, the venue played host to noughties pop group, Busted, as the trio bought a set packed with nostalgia and certified pop hits to cap off an evening of racing.

Opening with Air Hostess, Charlie Simpson, James Bourne, and Matt Willis were on fine form, showing no decrease in the energy Busted brought to stages all over the UK to their adoring fans before splitting in 2005.

Early favourites such as Who’s David? and She Wants To Be Me went down a storm to a packed crowd at Haydock Park, none of whom were deterred by the periods of torrential rainfall.

Matt Willis even had time to make a jibe at McFly, old friends of the band and part of collaborative project, McBusted.

Willis stated he was aware of McFly criticising his band on stage recently, and jokingly asked James “how many of their songs has he written?”

While that section of the gig felt slightly awkward and unnecessary with the two bands sharing a similar fanbase, the show picked back up as Busted closed with Crashed the Wedding and Year 3000.

The races and live music go hand in hand, and with events like this racegoers can no longer feel glum at the end of the final race, as a party awaits at the other end of the racecourse!
