English Teacher Release Latest Taste Of Debut Album

Ahead of their highly anticipated debut album in under two months time, English Teacher have released their latest single from the forthcoming record.

“R&B” addresses a previous relationship and turning positives into negatives by redirecting focus and energy into something else.

It follows stellar tracks such as “Nearly Daffodils” and “The World’s Biggest Paving Slab”, which will also feature on the debut LP and have only boosted the ever-growing hype surrounding the Leeds band.

The debut album, “This Could Be Texas”, will be released via Island Records on April 12th, and the new single was premiered on Huw Stephens’ BBC 6 Music show last week.

Lead singer, Lily Fontaine, commented: “When I was with him I had writer’s block and to add insult to irony, the only idea I had was for an R&B top line – the genre people always assumed I worked in. As soon as he ended it, I converted that top line into the lyrics and riff for ‘R&B’, and took it to my three best mates.

“Putting the effort that you could potentially put into a partner, back into yourself and your career, is cool and sexy and gets you signed to Island Records and writing press quotes in a tour van in Holland and you get to meet Jools Holland. Thanks lad.”

After selling out debut UK and US headline runs last autumn, and impressing with their set on Later With…Jools Holland, English Teacher have become one of the most hotly tipped bands around today.

They were recently confirmed as Official Independent Venue Week Artist Ambassador for 2024, and will embark on their biggest UK headline tour to date in spring, with all UK & Ireland dates listed below.

Produced by Marta Salogni (Bjork, Bon Iver, M.I.A.), English Teacher’s ‘R&B’ is out now via Island Records and available on all digital platforms.
