Q&A With… Lusaint!

2024 was a huge year for the fast-rising jazz and soul singer, Lusaint, who amassed millions of streams and ticked off some impressive landmarks.

Whether it was touring with Tom Grennan and Jess Glynne, or her first TV appearance and debut tour, last year laid the foundations for a major breakthrough in 2025.

The Manchester artist has now released new single “Neon Lights” and is wasting no time to capitalise on previous successes.

We caught up with Lusaint for our latest Q&A to get to know the hotly tipped Mancunian…

NC: Your new single “Neon Lights” is out now, tell us all about it?

Lusaint: “Neon Lights is about the excitement and fear of embracing change, stepping into the unknown, and breaking free from old habits. The lyrics are abut the struggle of letting go, the courage it takes to grow, and the hope that comes with new beginnings.”

NC: For those who haven’t heard your music before, is Neon Lights a good insight into what Lusaint is about sonically?

Lusaint: “I love neo soul and jazz music and knew when I wrote this song I wanted to blend them both with elements of pop. I think most of my music combines jazz, soul, pop and hints of neo soul!”

NC: How was 2024 for you? You achieved plenty of streams and acclaim, has this laid the platform nicely for 2025?

Lusaint: “It was such an amazing year. Laying foundations for my project and seeing the success happen over 2024 was mind blowing and so many amazing opportunities including my first television performance and first tour!”

NC: What has been the career highlight so far?

Lusaint: “My first tour was a real highlight. I’d always dreamed of playing La Cigale in Paris and to end the tour at that venue was very emotional!”

NC: You have supported the likes of Tom Grennan, Raye, Nia Archives, and Jess Glynne already. What have you learned from these artists and these experiences?

Lusaint: “I love how they show so much resilience and confidence on stage. They bounce back from anything by being up there  and loving their art. Every show is different but I learn something new about my own stage performance each time.”

NC: Is growing up in Manchester a blessing or a curse musically?

Lusaint: “I love that I am from Manchester, as music from here is so great and always will be iconic. I think there are setbacks for wanting to grow as an original artist as opportunities are more difficult up north. But finding the right people to help grow you as an artist and finding your feet is so key.”

NC: You play Night & Day next month, what does this venue mean to you as a Manchester artist?

Lusaint: “I’ve always loved Night and Day. I’ve seen so many amazing artists play there and I feel like it really represents what Manchester is all about!”

What can people expect from the Lusaint live show?

Lusaint: “I’m really excited to have my band with me for the first time in Manchester!! To play my hometown with them will be very emotional. I have lots of new songs ready to perform that will be firsts also.”

NC: What does the future hold for Lusaint beyond the March shows?

“I hope to do another headline tour again very soon and I am due to support Michael Kiwanuka in July in Vienne plus I will be releasing more music from my next EP ‘Apothecary’.”
