Doves Release New Single “Saint Teresa” – New Album Out This Month!

Ahead of this month’s eagerly anticipated sixth album release, now confirmed for Friday 28th February, Doves have provided fans with a brand new single.

“Saint Teresa”, which premiered on Steve Lamacq’s BBC 6 Music show and is out now across all platforms, is the third taste from Constellations For The Lonely.

Inspired by a late-night internet search, Saint Teresa visits the enigmas of religious history and brings the story of Teresa of Ávila to life.

Lead singer, Jimi Goodwin commented on the new track: “My Catholicism went out of the window years ago, but I love the iconography associated with the church. They put on a really good show. I identify with it all from my childhood. The story of Saint Teresa is fascinating.”

It follows “Renegade” and “Cold Dreaming” from the slightly delayed release, which will be the follow-up to Doves’ third UK Official Albums Chart No.1 album, 2020’s The Universal Want.

The album was originally set for a release date of Valentine’s Day, but due to unforeseen manufacturing issues fans will have to be a little more patient with a two-week delay confirmed.

Guitarist and songwriter, Jez Williams added: “Sometimes songs can be like a Rubik’s Cube. You play with it but have to go back to it after a time and, only then, do you really know what to do with it. ‘Saint Teresa’ was still knocking on the door when we came to record the album, so we took it into sessions with Dan (Austin – co-producer), replacing some of it, changing a few of the lyrics and it turned out great.”

The band also confirmed that they will play three unique Jodrell Bank Observatory album listening parties this week.

Complete with atmospheric, spacey visual accompaniments, Doves takes over the state-of-the-art First Light Pavilion at the astrophysics centre to premiere a specially commissioned 5.1 surround sound mix on Thursday.

The Manchester group will also play their first run of indoor headline shows since 2010 with a 16-date UK tour starting at Glasgow’s SWG3 on Tuesday 25 February.
