As the excitement builds for their new album, The Slow Readers Club have unveiled their latest single, ‘Boy So Blue’.
The latest single is our third taste of their forthcoming seventh studio album, Out Of A Dream, set for release on 14th March 2025.
It follows “Technofear” and “Animals” in what feels like The Slow Readers Club’s most ambitious sonic evolution to date.
Frontman Aaron Starkie commented: “The electronic side of our music has always evolved, influenced by early Depeche Mode, Erasure, New Order, and LCD Soundsystem. With this track, we decided to bring those inspirations to the forefront.
“Though it’s an upbeat dance track, the lyrics explore deep emotional pain and trauma. It’s about using hedonistic coping mechanisms—like drugs, alcohol, and womanizing—as temporary escapes, which ultimately become self-destructive cycles.
“We wanted to contrast the music’s euphoria with the sadness in the lyrics, highlighting the struggle between light and darkness.”
Produced by Joe Cross (Courteeners), Out Of A Dream is described by the band as “a collection of abstract visions that question reality, celebrate love, and long for connection.”
It follows the success of 2023’s Knowledge Freedom Power, and you can catch the band on the live stage amongst their loyal following from next month.
Kicking off locally at The Met in Bury on 1st March, the 10-date UK album launch tour will also stop in Manchester, Liverpool, Leeds, London, and Nottingham.
Adding to the excitement, The Slow Readers Club announced their first major live event of the summer – a huge homecoming performance at Manchester’s Castlefield Bowl, supporting Elbow.
