The Lathums Release New Single “Stellar Cast”

526 0

With all roads leading to album three following two successive number one records, The Lathums have today released their new single, “Stellar Cast”.

It is the second release of 2024 following the energetic live favourite, “No Direction”, and premiered on BBC 6 Music this evening.

Frontman and songwriter, Alex Moore commented: “I got the inspiration for this song after one of our early gigs at the Brudenell in Leeds. We were joined by a stellar lineup. It was one of the rare times I’d had a bit too much to drink before going on stage.

“That night on the bus back, I had a crazy dream, probably fuelled by all the Jamaican ale I refer to in the song. In the dream, there was a strange figure at the end of my bed that I couldn’t get out of my head for a long time after.”

The Wigan band are currently touring arenas with Keane following their triumphant homecoming show at Robin Park earlier this year in front of 11,500 fans.

2025 looks set to be even busier, as the band have teased Friday 7th March as an important date in the calendar, before a main stage slot at Isle of Wight Festival and plenty more in the pipeline.

Both new singles were crafted in Wigan before recording commenced once again at Liverpool’s Kempston Street Studios with longtime collaborators, John Kettle and Chris Taylor.

Hometown pride is clear, and The Lathums also recently launched their Chance to See Fund, which provides creative opportunities to young people around Wigan.

The fund, developed with arts charity Curious Minds, reached £25,000 this year and is open for donations via Just Giving.

We sense big news is coming soon, so keep an eye out for the next chapter of The Lathums
