This weekend, new music champions, This Feeling, are back with their two-day festival of live music – “This Feeling By The Sea”.

The event takes place at Bridlington Spa on Friday 6th and Saturday 7th September with a packed lineup of some of the UK’s best up and coming bands and artists.

It will be headlined by The Royston Club and The K’s, and hosted by former producer and presenter of Soccer AM and Sky Sports, and now host of the FC Bullard podcast, John “Fenners” Fendley.

Fenners told Northern Chorus earlier today: “Last year was the first year I did it and it was something I was privileged to be asked to do. I’ve known Mikey from This Feeling for some time and he told me about the festival and how he’d like me to host. Bridlington is 20 minutes from where I’m originally from so I thought it was a great opportunity.

“It was such a well organised event. It was a great atmosphere at the venue. Everybody mingling and no music or industry snobbery. Everything ran smoothly, the crew and Bridlington Spa were brilliant, and the bands were phenomenal. Some of them, I came away thinking wow. That’s the thing with new music it can just blow you away.

“I remember CVC last year, they’ve got such an incredible, mature sound. The guitar, the vocals, they were so self-assured and absolutely brilliant, I can’t speak highly enough of them. I remember thinking, I wish we were still doing Soccer AM because we’d have definitely had them on.”

This Feeling have been providing an integral platform to grassroots artists for many years now, and their work in the industry has been hailed by the likes of Noel Gallagher and Carl Barat.

This weekend is a celebration of some of the artists who have already broken through, and those on the cusp of bigger things, so there is no better place to be than Bridlington Spa this weekend to find your next favourite band.

On who he is excited to see this weekend, Fenners told us: “I do suggest getting down early and seeing everyone. The quality of all the bands is brilliant. Pastel I loved even before seeing them on Soccer AM, if you like The Verve you’ll be a fan. They’ve got that kind of brooding groove, great performers and top songs. The Royston Club too, from what I’ve heard I really like, so I’m looking forward to seeing them.

“The K’s I know will put on a fantastic show and they’ve got a great following already. I’ve heard a lot about Seb Lowe, I’m not massively familiar with his music but his name is coming up a lot so I’m keen to see what he is like. Megan Wyn too, I’ve listened to bits and pieces in the past and it’s great to get away from the “boys in the band” attitude and get some female representation who are smashing it.”

John Kennedy, AKA Radio X’s most trusted man in music, will be taking to the decks on Saturday between many of the artists he has championed on his Radio X new music show.

Both Breeze and Alex Spencer will open the show on Friday and Saturday respectively after winning a slot at This Feeling By The Sea last month, selected by John Kennedy himself from thousands of entries.

Speaking about his own role for the weekend, Fenners commented: “When I did it last year I’d just finished on Soccer AM and I walked on stage not really knowing what I was doing. And everybody was probably wondering why I was there. My role is to welcome everyone, let them know the script, and introduce each band. I’ll go off and watch the performances, so I just need to nail my 2-3 minute little bit.

“I might have a bit of a chat with the audience here and there, but anyone who knows me knows stand-up isn’t really my thing, I’m fine with sketches, but I’m just there to have a good time. I did consider coming out in character but it felt a bit Route One. I’ll just chat to the bands beforehand, learn a bit about them, and try and do my research for the audience.”

Limited remaining tickets for This Feeling By The Sea are available HERE, priced at £60 for the weekend, £35 for day tickets, and £10 for those under the age of 12.

We will be releasing the full interview with Fenners later this week where he talks about Soccer AM, FC Bullard, last month’s meeting with Liam Gallagher, the Oasis reunion and plenty more.
