Sunderland‘s Tom A. Smith has been going from strength to strength over the last few years, with some stellar EP releases and huge support slots with the likes of Elton John, Miles Kane, and Gang of Youths.
Now, Tom is set to unveil a brand new single featuring Swim School‘s Alice Johnson on co-vocals.
“I don’t want you to have to remember me for longer than you ever knew me” featuring Swim School is set for release on August 30th.
Tom commented on the new track: “This is in my opinion the best and most personal song I’ve ever written.
“I’ve met Alice and the Swim School guys and really love everything they’ve done and think our vocals complement each other perfectly.
“She was so innovative when working out her harmonies to the point that I can’t imagine it without her.”
The new single reveal follows the announcement that Tom is set to star in one of the lead roles in the Dave Stewart backed film ‘Ebony McQueen’.
Set to shoot in Sunderland, Tom plays the character based on Dave’s own life growing up in the city in the 60’s and 70’s.
Dave Stewart is a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee alongside his Eurythmics partner Annie Lennox, and he has teamed up with Director, Shekhar Kapur for the film.
Production for Ebony McQueen begins early next year, and Tom’s new single arrives next week!
