Victorious Festival returns next weekend (23rd-25th August) for a weekend of live music, comedy, and entertainment at Southsea, Portsmouth.
It brings together some of the UK’s top live artists, including an eagerly anticipated opening headline set from Fatboy Slim, a special performance from alternative rock royalty, Pixies, and a closing party from one of the UK’s finest live bands, Biffy Clyro.
While the lineup is packed with established and up and coming talent, we have narrowed it down to five sets you will not want to miss at Victorious 2024…
THE ROYSTON CLUB (Friday – Castle Stage)
Not resting on the laurels of their flawless debut album, “Shaking Hips and Crashing Cars”, Wrexham indie quartet, The Royston Club, returned last week with an incredible new single, “The Patch Where Nothing Grows”.
They have made a name for themselves up and down the country on the live stage, so it is no surprise that the Welsh band have already sold out two nights at Liverpool Academy this November.
Destined for bigger things on a trajectory to becoming a household indie name, The Royston Club are a must-see on the opening day of Victorious.
THE MURDER CAPITAL (Friday – Common Stage)
Irish post-punk band, The Murder Capital have enjoyed a significant and deserved rise over the last couple of years, following their critically acclaimed record, Gigi’s Recovery.
Their live performances are something to behold and TMC have been a major driving force behind the plethora of new Irish rock bands achieving major success in recent years.
It promises to be a special set on the Friday at the Common Stage, so make sure you don’t miss this one.
ROYEL OTIS (Saturday – Castle Stage)
The latest Australian indie band to break through globally are Royel Otis, who achieved a major boost following their impressive covers of “Murder on the Dancefloor” and “Linger”.
But don’t be confused by the popularity of the covers, because this is a top class band in their own right. The likes of “Sofa King” and “Oysters in my Pocket” are indie gold, and the effortless vocals are something to behold.
They will be climbing festival posters in no time, so make sure you get down to the Castle Stage for the Sydney duo.
CMAT (Saturday – Common Stage)
Another breakthrough Irish artist on the bill is CMAT, whose second studio album “Crazymad, for Me” has received a Mercury Prize nomination.
With an infectious personality and the tunes to match, the singer-songwriter has been gathering a loyal following at home and abroad over the last few years.
CMAT takes to the stage on the Saturday at Victorious and you can expect a big crowd in attendance for an artist on the cusp of a major breakthrough.
TOM A SMITH (Sunday – Under The Trees)
And last but not least, if you’re looking for the next big thing on an intimate stage then look no further than Sunderland’s Tom A Smith at Under The Trees.
Shining on the live stage with his tight-knit band, Smith’s array of quality EP releases have showcased an artist beyond his years.
Having supported the likes of Elton John, Catfish and the Bottlemen, and Miles Kane, Tom’s teenage experiences as a live performer are paying dividends as he comes into his own as an artist.
