Australian punk rock quartet, Amyl & The Sniffers made a spectacular comeback last week with their new single ‘U Should Not Be Doing That’, marking their first release in nearly three years.
The exuberant and confrontational track premiered as Jack Saunders’ Hottest Record on Radio 1 and promptly secured a spot on the BBC 6 Music A-List.
The band delivered an electrifying headline performance at Bearded Theory on Sunday, complete with fireworks, before heading to London for an intense and sweaty show at The Scala last night. This show, announced just two weeks prior, sold out in a mere three minutes.
Amyl & The Sniffers have also announced a full UK/European tour for this November, with tickets going on sale at 10am this Friday, May 31st.
The new single was recorded with Nick Launay (known for his work with Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds, and Yeah Yeah Yeahs) and is their first release since their 2021 sophomore album “Comfort To Me.”
Amy Taylor of the band commented: “U Should Not Be Doing That makes me laugh, but It’s also in a way poking fun at the shock that people still feel at a little bit of skimpy clothing, and the bitchy high school way that the music community still is.
“It’s unconscious and meant nothing at the time of writing it but now I think it’s a comedic way of rubbing the dog’s nose in its own dog piss after it wee’d on your favourite rug or something.”
The band tour Europe in June, North America in July / August including supporting the Foo Fighters, and newly announced November UK/EU Tour Dates in RED below.
