Liam Gallagher & John Squire Confirm Collaboration

After over a year of teasing fans about a potential collaboration, Liam Gallagher and The Stone Roses‘ guitarist, John Squire, have finally confirmed details of their new project.

After joining the Oasis frontman on stage at his sold out Knebworth shows last year, LG constantly fuelled rumours that something was in the works on social media and in radio interviews.

Earlier this week, Liam posted a cryptic video to his Instagram with Squire on stage with Oasis, along with a link to a “Liam Gallagher John Squire” website, where fans were invited to sign up for more information.

Now, as an early Christmas present for fans of the two Manchester music icons, both have confirmed a brand new single together.

‘Just Another Rainbow’ will be released on January 5th, with more new music to follow in 2024, despite Gallagher’s plans to take a year out.

John Squire commented: “To me the most obvious take on ‘Just Another Rainbow’ is that it’s about disappointment, and the sentiment is that you never get what you really want.

But I don’t like to explain songs, I think that’s the privilege of the listener, it’s whatever you want it to be. To me, it’s also one of the most uplifting tracks we’ve made together, which is weird.”

Liam Gallagher added: “I think John’s a top songwriter. Everyone always bangs on about him as a guitarist, but he’s a top songwriter too, man, no two ways about it as far as I’m concerned. There’s not enough of his music out there, whether it’s with the Roses or himself.

It’s good to see him back writing songs and f*****g good ones. The melodies are mega and then the guitars are a given. But I think even when you take all the f*****g guitars off, you can play the songs all on acoustic and they’ll all still blow your mind.”

The pair have worked together previously on Seahorses material and re-joined forces at John’s studio in Macclesfield after Knebworth reignited the partnership.

They then spent three weeks with producer and bassist, Greg Kurstin, in Los Angeles, where together with Joey Waronker (drums – Beck, R.E.M) they put the finishing touches to their creations.

We can expect to hear some more news in 2024 following the release of ‘Just Another Rainbow’.

The single is now available to pre-order on 7” vinyl and to pre-save at HERE.
