16 years on from the release of their last record, The Zutons have confirmed their return with a brand new album and accompanying tour.
“The Big Decider” will be released on April 26th 2024, with their full UK tour kicking off in the same month.
Recorded at Abbey Road alongside Nile Rodgers and Ian Broudie, the comeback record has plenty to cover from the Liverpool band’s extended time away.
It addresses what has been a tough time for lead vocalist, Dave McCabe, as Abi Harding (saxophone & vocalist) explains: “Dave has been through an awful lot in the last few years, and these things have obviously really impacted him. But his songwriting has only got better.
“Now he spends more time on his songs. He’s in touch with his own and others’ emotions, and that all goes into the songs. It has been so nice to watch him grow. I’m so proud of him.”
“The Big Decider” was fast-tracked by the pandemic, which saw the band living together in a bubble to revive their creative collaborations and write a surprise new record.
An official album trailer video has been released via YouTube HERE, featuring new songs ‘Creeping On The Dancefloor’, ‘Pauline’, ‘In Your Arms’, and ‘Rise’.
Dave McCabe commented on creating the new album: “Working with Nile was just an amazing experience, he gave me a confidence that I’ve never felt before making a record. He’s very laid-back as a person and a good listener. It was great to reconnect with Ian Broudie on this record as well.
“He told me the demo of Big Decider brought a tear to his eye and that’s why he said yes to working with us again. It was one of the first songs we wrote for the album so getting that reaction from Ian made me feel like we were doing something right. The song spoke for itself.”
Having sold out their run of intimate live shows set to take place in January to March next year, The Zutons have also confirmed a full UK tour, on sale this Friday (8th December).
