The Gulps Release “Mirror Mirror” Ahead Of Tour

After being signed and now managed by Creation Records’ icon, Alan McGee, in 2022, The Gulps have been going from strength to strength. From featuring in IBIS marketing campaigns and Made in Chelsea, to performing their brand new single to a huge audience on Soccer AM last weekend, the word has been spreading about this hotly tipped band.

Last year, they jetted off to Los Angeles for recording sessions with Danny Saber of Black Grape. The results of this and The Gulps’ first single of 2023, Mirror Mirror, recently premiered by Chris Hawkins on BBC 6 Music. Inspired by Jack Kerouac, Mirror Mirror tells the tale of a man dreaming of a less ordinary life.

Lead singer, Javier Sola, commented: “It’s a fantasy poetry of a normal day. Influenced by Kerouac’s book, On the Road, and its carefree attitude and sense of adventure. Trying to make the listeners feel reflected with the lyrics, looking at the mirror and feeling they’re part of the hedonism of just another day. A free-spirited maverick eager to explore all kicks and an inspiration and catalyst for being in a band.

We’re mad to live… desirous of everything at the same time. Even though sometimes it’s also mixed with some beats of deepness, loneliness and melancholy. The track also reflects the different social classes, the cats in the alleyways, our pals, and the loaded rats in the avenues. The tale of passionate adventures and the search for revelation are timeless.”

The new single is aligned with preparation for the band’s UK tour dates in February 2023. Their headline dates include Leeds, Glasgow, and Manchester, along with a support slot with Trampolene in Cardiff. The latest run of dates follow desirable special guests slots with Ash, Cast, and Carl Barat last year, as well as a sold out tour of Spain.

Mirror Mirror is the follow up to the popular 2022 release, Candy, released via the band’s own Guindilla Records. The quintet also recently signed a publishing deal with Mike Smith and Downtown Music, so watch this space.
