One of the many West Yorkshire breakthroughs of the last few years has been the innovative, genre-exploring band, The Orielles. The Halifax group have released four albums since 2018, including the wonderfully unique, ‘Disco Volador’, one of the stand-out albums of 2020. Now, they are heading to the North West for an eagerly anticipated date at Manchester’s New Century Hall.
The Orielles will perform at newly re-opened iconic city venue on April 6th 2023, as they return to Manchester for the first time since their intimate Piccadilly Records shows with full orchestral backing. It forms part of their full UK spring headline tour, and they will also play two homecoming shows at Hebden Bridge Trades Club just before Christmas.
The announcement is aligned with the release of a brand new video for ‘Darkened Corners’, the latest track to be taken from their 2022 record, Tableau, which was released on Heavenly Recordings on 7th October.
The band commented: “‘Darkened Corners’ is one of the collective favourites of the album for us. Its musical narrative best describes emotionally what creating this record felt like for us. We wanted to create this kind of Krauty, super rigid and formulaic first part where everything happens in these repeated cycles. Then as the song starts to turn darker we created this spiralling passage where you should feel like you don’t really have a sense of time of where home is moving into this intense manic phase as Sid puts it the drums try to break free from the old ways into this blissful new world.”
Along with the UK tour dates, The Orielles will also be jetting over to Austin, Texas, to play next year’s SXSW Festival from 13th-18th March.
