Clean Cut Kid Announce “HISS”

Back in 2016, I had the pleasure of interviewing Clean Cut Kid whilst working for a West Yorkshire music magazine, ahead of their show at Headrow House in Leeds. With a set full of catchy indie-folk anthems, the Liverpool band put on a memorable show, and it wasn’t long before Liam Fray of the Courteeners labelled the four-piece as one of the best the country had to offer, before taking them on tour as support.

Fast-forward six years and the band are still going strong, with the announcement of forthcoming fourth record, “HISS”, out November 11th via Alcopop! Records. It follows previous albums “Felt”, “Painwave” and “Mother’s Milk”, with new single, “Inside My Head” released today as the latest taste of what the new chapter has in store.

Frontman, Mike Halls commented on the new track: “As a songwriter, I’ve always had two opposing sets of feelings about what I do. On the one hand you’re very proud of, and almost defined by what you see as kind of a ‘gift’, and on the other hand it feels like the most pathetic and self obsessed existence. ‘Inside My Head’ is me asking the question ‘what will I be as a person when this gift eventually dries up?’. It culminates in one of my biggest fears: that I’ll have let music rule my life so much I’ll miss out on having a family.”

Speaking about the album, Halls adds: “HISS is as honest an album as I’ll ever be able to make. It was winter 2020; the whole world had ground to a halt, and the pain of being separated from pretty much everything I love had begun to turn into music in my head.”

Clean Cut Kid are fresh from supporting rising star, Orla Gartland, on her UK tour dates, along with their very own winter headline tour last year. The band are set to announce further live dates over the coming months, so keep an eye on their socials.

HISS is released 11th November 2022 via Alcopop! Records. Head to https://www.cleancutkid.co.uk/ to save, pre-order and for more information.
