Holly Humberstone Releases New Single, “Sleep Tight”

It has been a tremendous 12 months for Grantham‘s breakthrough star, Holly Humberstone. After releasing acclaimed EP, “The Walls Are Way Too Thin”, she went on to receive the coveted BRIT Award for “Rising Star”, formerly the ‘Critics Choice Award’, with previous winners including Adele, Florence and the Machine, and Sam Smith.

Another former winner, Sam Fender presented Holly with the award during a recording session, where the pair performed an outstanding duet of Fender’s huge hit, “Seventeen Going Under”. This month, she will also head out on a US Tour with one of the biggest names in pop, Olivia Rodrigo, before a landmark Glastonbury slot in June.

As if all that wasn’t enough, we’ve now been treated to a brand new single from Holly Humberstone. “Sleep Tight” was created during a session with longtime collaborator Rob Milton and The 1975’s Matty Healy, the second time Holly was worked with the latter following previous EP track, “Please Don’t Leave Just Yet”.

Speaking about the new track, Holly commented: “It’s awkward trying to navigate catching feelings for a friend, as they are often feelings we might have been suppressing for some time. When they float to the surface, you have to weigh up the risks of getting hurt and potentially losing them in your life. I wrote ‘Sleep Tight’ about the uncertainty of friendships evolving into something more. The first summer out of lockdown was pretty crazy for my friends and I because we finally had our freedom back and acted like we had nothing to lose. This song takes me back to that time of what felt like no consequences and impending heartbreak.”

Fans who watched Holly’s Coachella set will be familiar with the track already, as it featured in her set prior to release.
