Glasgow Welcomes More “Concerts for Carers”

“Concerts for Carers“, a charity initiative launched in partnership with O2, has announced that three more Glaswegian venues are now on board to provide free tickets for every show to NHS and paid care workers. The OVO Hydro, SEC Armadillo, and Lomond Auditorium Glasgow are the venues participating in a movement that has seen 25,000 NHS and paid care workers register for over 250 shows in the UK.

The charity was formed by former music venue executives to promote the mental health and wellbeing of these critical workers. The likes of Stormzy, Elton John, Justin Bieber and Liam Gallagher are just a selection of the big artists these concerts have played host to, and you can be sure there are plenty more household names in the pipeline.

Glasgow joins the likes of Cardiff, Bristol, Manchester, Newcastle and Southampton in the Concerts for Carers initiative, with 27 venues now signed up in total. Blondie, Emile Sande, Dua Lipa, Foals and Bastille are some of the exciting names confirmed for future events.

Mark Lambert, Co-Founder of Concerts for Carers, commented: “We are delighted to be partnering with the SEC who are generously providing sets of tickets to all of the shows at the Scottish Event Campus to NHS and paid care staff registered with Concerts for Carers. The SEC is the latest venue to be added to our growing list of venues across the UK, helping us further our mission throughout the UK in partnership with the O2 in recognising and giving thanks to those who are there for us when we need it most.”

How does the scheme work?

  • NHS and paid Care workers can sign-up via www.concertsforcarers.org.uk
  • Once registered on the website, NHS staff and paid Care workers can apply for shows that they would like to attend
  • All requests will be entered into a ballot
  • Recipients will then be notified if they have won tickets to their preferred events.
