Bobby Gillespie and Jehnny Beth have announced live shows ahead of the release of their debut album, ‘Utopian Ashes’, on Friday. They will be performing shows in Edinburgh, Glasgow, Manchester and Brighton, along with three dates at Pitchfork Festival in London and Paris (full dates at the bottom of the article).
The Primal Scream and Savages concoction has garnered widespread critical acclaim since the pair joined musical forces, with Huw Stephens and Lauren Laverne just two of the key players in radio to voice their support of the band.
They first met at the Barbican back in 2015, with Jehnny invited onto stage with Primal Scream a year later to perform a duet. In 2017, they decided to go into the studio together and record some session work, initially focused around electronic music production before evolving into rock, blues, country and soul.
Now, four years on, the duo prepare to release their debut album together on Friday. The album ‘deals with the heavy realities of love turning sour and is an album for people who have dealt with the inevitable sadness that comes with age and acknowledged the realities of life.’
Fans who preorder the album by 3pm tomorrow (Tuesday, June 29th) will receive a unique code to access a pre-sale for tour tickets. The pre-sale opens at 10am on Wednesday and will remain live until remaining tickets go on general sale here at 10am on Friday, July 2nd.
